Beuchat International , mostly only known under the name Beuchat , was founded in 1934 and is now a globally known developer and manufacturer of underwater equipment .

history

Georges Beuchat 1980

In 1934, the descendant of a Swiss watch manufacturer, Georges Beuchat , founded Beuchat SA in Marseille. He was himself a diving pioneer and in 1948 was also a co-founder of the Français Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques (which later became CMAS international).

In 1953, Beuchat invented a diving suit and in 1964 fins , which for decades were the reference for all other diving equipment manufacturers. Beuchat also made a significant contribution to the history of underwater equipment with various other products.

Georges Beuchat sold the company to Álvarez de Toledo in 1982 , who in turn sold it to the Margnat family in 2002.
