The Palacio de Gobierno (colloquially Palacio Quemado ) was the seat of the Bolivian government until 2018 . It is located in Plaza Pedro Domingo Murillo in downtown La Paz , next to the Cathedral of Our Lady of La Paz and the Palacio Legislativo , where the National Congress meets. The nickname Palacio Quemado arose from the fact that the previous building was burned down during a mutiny in 1860.

In August 2018, a new building was handed over to its destination. The 120 meter high Casa Grande del Pueblo (Great House of the People) is located directly behind the old building, which is to become a museum.
