The Mittermaierhaus (also Palais Mittermaier ) is a baroque town house in Heidelberg . It is located at Karlstrasse 8 below Heidelberg Castle .

The building, erected after 1700, was rebuilt around 1790 in the Louis Seize style according to plans by Peter Anton von Verschaffelt . The library cabinet with twelve paintings by Karl Kuntz also dates from this period . The almost unchanged condition since then and its important owners, including Carl Joseph Anton Mittermaier , give the Mittermaierhaus an outstanding role in the historical cityscape of Heidelberg. Today the building belongs to the gymnastics association in CC Ghibellinia Heidelberg and is used as a student residence and for events.
