Wolfgang Schepers (* 1951 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a German art historian , university professor and director of the museum , as well as non-fiction - Author and - Publisher .

Life

Wolfgang Schepers studied art history, archeology, sociology and philosophy in Heidelberg at the Ruprecht-Karls-University and in London . In 1979 he started at the Philosophical-Historical Faculty of Heidelberg University with a dissertation on Hirschfeld's theory of garden art . 1779-1785 . PhD.

After a traineeship at the Badisches Landesmuseum in Karlsruhe, worked from 1980 to 1998 as a research assistant and finally as deputy director at the Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf .

From January 15, 1999 to September 1, 2014, Schepers directed the August Kestner Museum in Hanover .

Wolfgang Schepers taught art history and design history at the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf . He is also known as one of the experts on the television program Lieb & Teuer .

He is a co-founder of the Society for Design History eV, its 2nd chairman and treasurer. (www.gfdg.org). Since 2014 he has been President and Managing Director of the Kunststoff-Museums-Verein eV, the sponsor of the German Plastic Museum (www. Deutsches -kunststoff-museum.de)
