The Palais Trauttmansdorff in Vienna , 1st district , Herrengasse 21, is a listed palace .

The six-axis baroque building was built on two floors in the middle of the 17th century, and at the end of the 18th century it was extended and changed in a classical style. There are still medieval walls in the cellar; A building can be documented here since the 14th century. Between 1834 and 1838 the wing facing Schenkenstrasse was built.

From 1639 to 1940 the palace was owned by members of the Counts and Princely Family Trauttmansdorff (in Austria until 1919) . The property was acquired by Maximilian von und zu Trauttmansdorff , a top imperial diplomat, after he settled at Tuchlauben 13 in 1627 . In 1966 the Niederösterreichische Brandschadenversicherung acquired the palace and rented it out.

The immediate neighbors of the palace are Palais Batthyány at number 19 and Palais Porcia at number 23 , as well as the old town square , known as Freyung .
