The Palais Weimar is located in the Bad Liebenstein district of the city ​​of Bad-Liebenstein in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

history

The palace was built between 1804 and 1805 as the summer residence of the Meiningen ducal family and then served the Duchy of Saxony-Weimar through marriage .

To the building itself

The dome of the building is an architectural gem. Something similar can be found in Meiningen. After the death of Duchess Eleonore in 1837, the daughter Ida inherited the building. She married Karl Bernhard von Weimar in 1816 . Since then, the house has borne the name.

In 1914 the new owner of the pool, ophthalmologist Dr. Count Wiser, his practice rooms in the palace. In the war years 1914–1918 the house was used as a practice room. After the war, the number of spa guests increased considerably. The house was rebuilt. The newly created reading, writing, billiards and music rooms could be made available to the spa guests in 1935.

After the Second World War , the expropriation wanted by the victorious powers took place . The management of the people's health resort Liebenstein took over and ran the house Weimar as a club house . In 1974 there was still room for the city library. Today the Palais Weimar houses the city and spa library, the tourist information and the music room in the domed hall.
