The Palazzo Falson ( Maltese Palazz Falzon , "Falson Palace"), also known as Norman house ( engl. Norman House ), is a medieval building in Mdina on Malta , which is now a museum - the Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum hosts - . Located on the fortified city's main street named after Villegaignon , the palace is the best-preserved medieval building in Mdina, once the capital of Malta .

history

The building, which is said to date back to the 13th century and was once known as the "Norman House", was built in the Sicilian - Norman style of its era. In the 16th century, Vice Admiral Michele Falson inherited the property from his cousin Ambrosio de Falsone, chairman of the city council.

L'Isle Adam lived in the palazzo for a few days on his first visit to Mdina, he was also the residence of the artist Captain Olaf Gollcher (1889–1962). It was extensively restored by the Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti (Maltese Heritage Foundation). In the Palazzo Falson there is a collection of antique paintings, silver, furniture, armor, books and many other exhibits. Its rooftop café offers a wonderful view of the island.

Building and garden are on the national list of cultural heritage of Malta ( National Inventory of the Cultural Property of the Maltese Islands / "National Inventory of Cultural Heritage of the Maltese Islands").
