The Palazzo Pompei was a building on Potsdam's Old Market . It was built in 1754 according to plans by Carl Ludwig Hildebrandt , destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt in 2016 as a residential building with a facade true to the original. Three of the seven mascarons above the windows on the first floor, which had survived the time in a garden of the Prussian Castle Foundation, could be included as originals. Because of their age, they are a little darker than the others. Originally, innkeeper Johann Friedrich Schmidt had the house built for his restaurant Zum Roten Adler .

The building was modeled on the Palazzo Pompei in Verona and therefore got its name.
