The Palazzo delle Poste is a post office building in the city of Naples . It was built in the architectural style of fascism (see: Italian Rationalism ). A Renaissance loggia from the neighboring Monteoliveto monastery is integrated into the facade. In the atrium there is a sculpture by Arturo Martini for the fallen.
history
The building was completed in 1936. It was partially destroyed on October 7, 1943. The German troops who had occupied Naples and were only driven out of Naples by the Neapolitans at the end of September 1943 after an uprising in the so-called four days , had mined the building with time bombs. The explosions were so powerful that 30 people died and about 80 were injured.
