Palmar erythema

Palmar erythema is the name given to the reddening of the palm of the hand . One finds this symptom z. B. in chronic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis ( liver skin sign ), in collagenoses or rheumatoid arthritis .

In addition, medication (e.g. long-term use of glucocorticoids ), nicotine consumption or an increased metabolism (e.g. during pregnancy , with sepsis or hyperthyroidism ) can lead to these skin changes.

Palmar erythema rarely occurs as a congenital disease , then referred to as palmar syndrome .
