The municipal palm house in Gliwice is located on Aleksander-Fredro-Straße in Frédéric-Chopin-Park, the former city park.

General and architecture

The palm house consists of four halls and has a total size of 2000 m². In the palm house there are 5600 different types of plants, the oldest are around 100 years old. The palm house is also home to canaries , parrots , aquariums with turtles and terrariums with reptiles .

There are two lion sculptures in front of the entrance .

history

The first greenhouses in the city park were built around 1880. A palm house was built between 1924 and 1930. A zoo with alligators, snakes, turtles and monkeys was also built in the palm house. In 1945 the palm house was damaged and opened to the public three years later. The current building is more recent.
