The Panagia Chryseleousa is a church building of the Cypriot Orthodox Church in Cyprus in Emba ( Paphos district ).

description

The Panagia Chryseleousa was first built in the 12th century on a cross-shaped floor plan with barrel vaults and a dome over the crossing. At a later point in time, the spaces between the cross arms were expanded and the church was expanded into a cross-domed church . In 1744 the second dome and a narthex were added to the west. At that time the church also served as a monastery church.

Outstanding among the preserved frescoes inside is the depiction of Christ as Pantocrator in the old crossing dome from the late 15th century. The iconostasis dates from the 16th century. Immediately next to the Panagia Chryseleousa is the monumental modern parish church of Embas, consecrated to St. Andrew the Apostle.
