Panagiotis Zografos
A Greek folk painter of the 19th century was known as Panagiotis Zografos ( Greek Παναγιώτης Ζωγράφος also Panayiotis Zographos or Panagiotes Zographos ). In fact, it is a pseudonym (Zografos, Ζωγράφος is the Greek word for painter ) of an unknown painter from Vordonya near Sparta who was hired by General Makrygiannis to create a series of paintings depicting the most important events in Greek history and in particular from the Greek struggle for freedom .
Zografos painted 25 pictures. Copies made by Zografos and his two sons were given as gifts to King Otto , the Russian Tsar, the King of France and Queen Victoria .
