Panagiotis Zografos (diplomat)
Panagiotis Zografos ( Greek Παναγιώτης Ζωγράφος , * 1954 in Athens ) is a former Greek diplomat .
Career
Panagiotis Zografos received his Abitur from the German School Athens . In 1976 he graduated from Athens University with a law degree . In 1977 he entered the foreign service and was attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 1979 he became the third-class delegation secretary in Vienna . In 1981 he became third class diplomatic secretary in Athens. In 1981 he became the second class diplomatic secretary and deputy head of the embassy in Beirut . In 1985 he became the first-class delegation secretary and consul general in Hanover. From 1988 to 1990 he was counselor of second class and business support in Caracas . From 1990 to 1993 he was Deputy Head of the Embassy in Madrid , where he was appointed First Class Counselor in 1991. From 1994 to August 1998 he was employed in Athens, where he was appointed Ministre plénipotentiaire second class in 1997. From August 1998 to November 2001 he was ambassador to Yerevan. From November 2001 to May 2005 he followed Anastasios Mitsialis as ambassador to Tel Aviv , where he was appointed Ministre plénipotentiaire first class in 2003. From May 2005 to July 2007 he headed Department D2, which deals with NATO and the European Defense Community . From July 2007 to 2011 he was ambassador to Vienna and was accredited as a permanent representative of the Greek government at the Vienna International Center . In January 2012 he was appointed Director General for Political Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Athens.
In September 2012 he was appointed ambassador.
From April 2013 to September 24, 2014 he was ambassador in Berlin .
Panagiotis Zografos is married with one child and is a second cousin of Andonis Samaras .
