Panantukan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Panantukan , also called Suntukan , is a Filipino style of boxing .

The term comes from the Tagalog word suntok ( Eng . "Blow"). While Panantukan literally means "wherever you strike", Suntukan means " fight ". In the Philippines, however, both terms do not describe a form of martial art, but merely a fight.

But since the Maharlika , also known as Pendekar , also had to be skilled in unarmed close combat, they developed skills similar to boxing, which are still learned today in Silat , Pencak Silat and Arnis / Eskrima / Kali . These differ from western boxing in that typical silat techniques are used. There is a constant attempt to throw the opponent off balance or to confuse him with certain movements. Opponent hits are often interrupted and two attacks are often made at once. There are also several rotations.
