Pancake Dome , in German pancake dome , is the English name for a type of volcano that only occurs on the planet Venus . It is a very regularly structured, circular spring hill, which is so called because of its appearance. In the nomenclature of the International Astronomical Union for the designation of planetary surface structures, they have received the designation Farrum . Plural: Farra. They are individually named after water goddesses and nymphs.

Pancake domes have a typical diameter of mostly around 25 km and a height of around 700 meters, which can also be up to over a kilometer. They also occur in groups and then often overlap. Its surface is characterized by a central opening and concentric and radial cracks. Apparently the structures were created by a very tough lava . It is puzzled how the lava could flow so evenly over the plains. Viscous lava also piles up in domes on the earth , but they are much smaller and not that symmetrical.
