Pandora FMS ( Pandora F lexible M onitoring S ystem ) is a free software that computer systems and application programs monitored and displays detail their status.

Range of functions

For example, Pandora FMS can detect when a network system is unresponsive, a website is defaced, or a memory leak occurs in a server application . Pandora also monitors hardware components and operating systems. If problems arise, it can generate reports and send notifications via email or SMS.

The server component is developed under Linux , but is implemented in Perl and thus runs in every Perl runtime environment in which the required Perl modules are available. The program can monitor remote systems using various protocols as long as they are supported by the external systems, for example WMI , SNMP , ICMP or even HTTP for websites. Alternatively, your own software components, so-called agents , which are part of Pandora, can be installed on the monitored systems .

history

Pandora FMS was originally developed by the Spanish programmer Sancho Lerena . The first stable release 1.0 was released on October 14, 2004. Artica was later founded and has been maintaining the software ever since.
