Pandur (card game)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pandur is a card game ( Jass ) that is played mainly in Switzerland . For this reason, the rules with German-Swiss cards are also explained here.

Style of play

For the Pandur three people are usually required (variants are also two and four players). The cards are played from the nine upwards (9, 10, Under, Ober, König, Ace). So there are 24 cards in play. Pandur can also be played in groups of four. In each round, one person in turn misses. The person who misses “inherits” the score if the individual player who makes the game wins. If both opponents win, the suspending person receives nothing.

In turn it is announced how much each player would like to achieve in the respective round, whereby the "forehand", i. H. the player to the right of the player who dealt the cards begins. The minimum bid is 100 points and increases in increments of ten. The highest bidder then plays against the other two players. These try to prevent the single player from reaching his announcement. The single player determines the trump. Anyone who cannot or does not want to say anything or anything higher can pass at any time. If all players pass in a round, i.e. no offer has been made, the cards are shuffled and dealt.

Announcements

A distinction must be made between dot announcements (e.g. 120 points) and the following "special announcements":

  • Misère: The player tries not to take a trick
  • Pandur: The player tries to take all the tricks

The two "special announcements" can be played with or without a trump. The announcement reads accordingly "Misère / Pandur with" or "Misère / Pandur without".

When the announcement is reached, points are credited to the single player, otherwise to both opponents.

The order of precedence of the announcements and the achievable writing points are as follows:

announcement Points
Pandur with 6th
300+ 6th
Pandur without 5
250-290 5
Misère with 4th
Misère without 4th
200-240 4th
150-190 3
100-140 2

In the case of competing announcements, which are worth the same number of writing points, the order of priority in the table above applies (from top to bottom). Example: The announcement "Misère with" (4 writing points) wins against "Misère without" (also 4 writing points), both "Misère" variants win against the point announcement, which is also worth 4 writing points (i.e. an announcement between 200 and 240 points) .

Point

species

You can collect additional points with Wys, Wyys, Weis . You get white points if you have three or more consecutive cards of a color, or if you own all colors of a number. The Weis must be announced when the first card is played, otherwise it is invalid. However, only the type of sage has to be announced (for example, “Trefoil”) and not the height of the sage. Height and color can be requested from the other players as soon as the first round (that is, when everyone has played a card) is over.

A special role the sticks ( Stöck a). It is the king and superior of the trump suit. The sticks are worth 20 points and can be written even if the other party has a higher wisdom. They can be announced either at the beginning or during the game, but at the latest when the second of the two cards is played. If no trump suit has been determined (i.e. with Misère without or Pandur without), there are no sticks.

Cross ways

Cross-wise is forbidden in the Pandur. For example, four aces and a trefoil from the same ace cannot be shown at the same time. In this case the player has to choose a wisdom, logically the higher one.

The sticks are an exception. They may also be crossed. This means that, for example, a trefoil from the ace of trumps and the sticks may be shown.

Example: roses are trumps. The trefoil of the rose sow (Rosenas, Rosenkönig, Rosenober) may now be shown. At the same time, the rose king and the rose top may be shown as sticks. This gives a total of 40 points (20 for the sticks plus 20 for the trefoil).

Precedence

The ranking and points achievable in the various ways are as follows:

Wis Points
4 boys 200
4 nines (Nellen) 150
Six-leaf 150
4 aces 100
4 kings 100
4 upper 100
4 tens 100
Five leaf 100
Four leaf 50
Trefoil 20th
Sticks 20th

If two hands of the same number of consecutive cards are in competition (e.g. two three-handers), the hand that contains the highest card counts. Example: An ace / king / upper trefoil beats a jack / 10/9 trefoil. If the hand is tied, the trump suit wins against any other suit. In the event of a tie among non-trump suits, the hand of the player who referred first in the order of play wins.

If two wise men of four of the same cards with the same number of points are in competition, the higher card wins. Example: Four kings beat four upper.

If a hand of consecutive cards is in competition with a white of four of the same card, which are worth the same number of points, the four of the same cards win. Example: Four Nellen (150 points) beat a six sheet (also 150 points).

Game objective

The final number of points is 11, 15, 17, 21 or 23 points, depending on the agreement.

Cheat

Pandur is the only Jass where cheating is allowed (Swiss German: bschiisse). If a teammate notices the cheating (i.e. if no color was specified or similar), the cheating party immediately lost the round.
