Weis (Jassen)
The Weis (also Wys, Wyys ) is a term from the world of Jassens ( card game ). It denotes consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g. 7, 8 and 9 of hearts) or four cards with the same pictures (e.g. 4 kings).
Value
Switzerland
The following points are spoken for each wise man:
- Stock = trump- king and -dame = 20 points
- 3 cards in a row = trefoil = 20 points
- 4 cards in a row = four hands = 50 points
- 5 cards in a row = five hands = 100 points
- 6 cards in a row = six sheets = 150 points
- 7 cards in a row = seven sheets = 200 points
- 8 cards in a row = eight sheets = 250 points
- 9 cards in a row = nine sheets = 300 points
The cards must each be of the same color.
- 4 aces, 4 kings, 4 queens, 4 tens, 4 eights, 4 sevens, 4 sixes = always 100 points each (regardless of the type of jass)
- 4 nines = 150 points
- 4 jacks (= Under = Puur) = 200 points
4 jacks is the highest possible wisdom, which is why a 9 hand only gives 150 points.

Vorarlberg
A card may only be used once for wise men (except for the floor). B. Trefoil with upper, king and ace and four aces at the same time. A Weis must be announced when the player's first card is thrown in the first round. Only the highest Weis (according to the value in the table below) of a hand has to be announced. The player with the higher wisdom may show. If several of the same value are announced (e.g. three hands), the top card of the white must be named (e.g. in the case of three hands with 8s, 9s and 10s of 10s). The player with the higher top card may then point. If two players have cards of the same value (e.g. both have four hands to king), then the one who was announced first (i.e. the player whose turn was first to be thrown) counts, unless one of them if this hand shows a trump, then the player's white with the trump-white counts. After this first round, the player or the team must show their way, and these are written according to the table below. At that time, additional ways may be named and shown by that player / s.
Which is a higher wisdom is regulated as follows (from the highest to the lowest wisdom): Ace, king, ..., 7s, 6s. This (also) applies to buck, goat and slalom. When trumps are played, the highest Weis is four Buura, then four Nell, then first Ace, King etc.

Jass rules
A Weis must be announced when the player's first card is played. As soon as the next player has given his card, no more ways are possible. The last player is allowed to show until the trick is turned. Each player only announces his highest wisdom (e.g. if a player has a three-leaf and a four-leaf, only the four-leaf is announced at first). The Weis points may only be written by the player or team with the highest Weis (but of course also deeper doubles)
Immediately after the first trick, the white cards that have been made into points must be declared and shown when requested.
Crosswise, such as B. a trefoil consisting of upper, king, ace and four kings are generally not allowed. The player has to choose among them (naturally usually the higher value). "Cross-pointing" is allowed in isolated Jass groups. Then the example given would result in 120 points. Deviating rules must always be agreed before the game starts.
Stöck must be shown after playing the second card at the latest and result in 20 points, regardless of the other ways.
Weis hierarchy
- Wise men who give more points are higher (see points above). The 5 hand is higher than 4 of a kind. Except for 4 Buur / Nell in trump games, there are more points.
- If two wise men are worth the same number of points, the wise man whose highest card is the highest (Obenabe / Bock) counts. In isolated Jass groups, Undenufe / Goaß der Weis, whose deepest map is deepest, the deepest. If the amount is the same, a white from trump cards is higher.
- If two wise men are equal according to the above rules, the one announced first applies. Unless one of the two is trump, then this Weis has the preference.
Remarks
In detail, additions that deviate from these rules exist in many areas of Switzerland, e.g. B. 4 aces are not counted in the case of a call.
