Pangeran

Pangeran is a high nobility title of the Javanese nobility . It is comparable to the European title “ Prince ”. The Indonesian word pangeran means lord, master, master.

The bearer of the Pangeran, often the owner of a Paragium , bears the title "Pangeran ......". The name of the paraged area follows the title. The pangeran is often the son of the prince of a former Javanese principality.

Well-known bearers of the title include Pangeran Ratu of Banten (d. 1651; also known as Abu al-Mafakhir), Pangeran Dipo Negoro of Java (1785–1855), Pangeran Antasari of Banjar (1797–1862) and Pangeran Ratu Winata Kusuma von Sambas (1965-2008)
