Reception "Eight Mountains"

The femundo portal praised the novel "Eight Mountains" as a powerful visual description of nature and the emotional portrait of a friendship between men:

“The novel accompanies the two boys from childhood to midlife. In addition to the big, outwardly decisive events - marriage, birth, death - Cognetti tells of the invisible turning points in life, the moments when inner doors close and the outlook in new directions is blocked for the time being. "

The Süddeutsche Zeitung looks at the novel against the background of an Italian version of native literature and writes:

“Cognetti's heroes are left-wing dropouts who are alien to the secessionism of the political right, but they are taking back the social adjustment of their fathers. Your vanishing point is the mountains. "
