Prix Médicis
The Prix Médicis is a French literary prize . It was founded in 1958 by Gala Barbisan and Jean-Pierre Giraudoux to honor French-language novels or short stories by young promising and original authors. A prize for foreign-language novels has also been awarded since 1970 and a prize for essays since 1985 (although titles from other genre forms are occasionally awarded, such as in 2018).
Until 2007, the Prix Médicis were always awarded on the first Wednesday of November in the Parisian Hôtel de Crillon - on the same day as the Prix Femina - since 2008 the award has usually taken place two days later in the Hôtel Lutetia .
