Steve Sem-Sandberg (2010)

Steve Sem-Sandberg (born August 16, 1958 in Oslo ) is a Swedish writer, critic and translator.

He wrote his first novel Sländornas värld at the age of eighteen and wrote a number of novels after that in the 1970s. Sem-Sandberg also translated works by other writers during this time. He worked as editor for the debate page in the culture section of the Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladet .

In 2003 Sem-Sandberg published a novel under the title Ravensbrück about Milena Jesenská , the occasional friend of Franz Kafka . In 2009 the writer received the August Prize for his novel De fattiga i Łódż ( The Sorrows of Lódź ) . Steve Sem-Sandberg lives in Stockholm and Vienna.
