Philippe Sollers (born November 28, 1936 in Bordeaux ) is a French writer .

Life

Philippe Sollers published Une curieuse solitude (A Strange Solitude) in 1959 . This classic development novel was enthusiastically received by the Catholic writer François Mauriac , but also by his communist colleague Louis Aragon . Between 1960 and 1982, Sollers was the editor of Tel Quel , which became a platform for post-structuralist thought, and was devoted to linguistic and political experiments. So he supported Maoism at times .

In 1983 he landed a surprising bestseller with Femmes , with which he returned to a more conventional narrative style. Since then he has appeared repeatedly in the French media, where he expresses himself on current issues. Sollers has been married to the psychoanalyst Julia Kristeva since 1967 .
