Bölkstoff

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From 1991 the Gilde-Brauerei from Hanover and since 2001 the Flensburg brewery produced a light, bottom-fermented Pilsener under the Bölkstoff brand .

Emergence

At first, Bölkstoff only appeared as a fictional beer brand in the stories about the comic figure Werner . Originally, the heroes of the stories swore by the beer from the Flensburg brewery ("Flens") (reportedly without having received any payments for it from Flensburg). Later, the stories increasingly referred to Bölkstoff and Flaschbier as a general term for beer.

As a result of the so-called “ Werner Race ” in Hartenholm in the summer of 1988, requests from fans for a beer called Bölkstoff increased . Rötger Feldmann alias Brösel then planned to bring a beer on the market under this name and founded the company "Flaschbier und Bölkstoff Handelsgesellschaft GmbH " for this purpose . Feldmann initially intended to realize these plans with the Flensburger brewery as early as 1988/89, but as the protagonist of a bottle of Bölkstoff clearly appears on the cover of one of the subsequent comics ("Besser is das", where brewing your own beer was already announced) held in hand, this led to the break with the Flensburger brewery. This saw comparative advertising in the combination of title and pictorial representation in connection with the slogan, as well as the fact that the characters from the comic series had previously drunk Flensburger instead, terminated the plans to work together and obtained a court order that the book title be blacked out had to. The band was therefore also known under the name "Werner - XXXXX".

When Feldmann found a new producer for the beer called Bölkstoff in the spring of 1989 with the Gilde Brewery in Hanover , he discovered that a businessman from Ahrensbök in East Holstein had already secured the trademark rights for himself. Feldmann then had to laboriously acquire the rights to the name Bölkstoff in order to start production, which delayed delivery of the beer for another two years. In the meantime, on May 20, 1989, he had the label he had drawn registered with the German Patent Office ; On the same day, Brösel also registered a variant with the alternative label Flaschbier .

The Bölkstoff beer finally became popular in early 1991, shortly after the start of the film Werner - Beinhart! At the end of 1990, the Gilde-Brauerei Hannover brought it onto the market as a swing top bottle (like the Flensburger Pilsener model). After the InBev Group took over the Gilde Brewery , the Bölkstoff brand was sold - now to the Flensburger Brewery, which has been producing beer with a new bottle and can design since 2002.
