Dominique Fernandez
Dominique Fernandez (born August 25, 1929 in Neuilly-sur-Seine , Hauts-de-Seine ) is a French author .
Life
Dominique Fernandez is the son of the French literary critic Ramon Fernandez . After finishing school he studied in Italy . In 1957 and 1958 he taught French language and literature at a French institute in Naples . In 1968 he received his doctorate on the Italian author Cesare Pavese . His job in Naples was terminated after teaching about communist author Roger Vailland . Fernandez returned to France, where he initially taught Italian at a school in Rennes . He later received a teaching position at the University of Rennes. Fernandez wrote several books and won the Prix Goncourt literary prize in 1982 . He is a member of the Académie française .
In 1961 Fernandez married Diane Jacquin de Margerie and has a daughter with her. Fernandez divorced in 1971. Fernandez has been openly gay since the 1970s .
