The FRIEDRICH FRANZ II and MOLTKE locomotives were acquired by the Parchim-Ludwigsluster Eisenbahn in 1880 as initial equipment for operation on the company's railway line. The engines were started in 1894 by the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg Friedrich-Franz Railway in the genre XIII and from 1910 in the genus T 2 classified. Both locomotives were decommissioned by 1919.
history
In 1880, the Parchim-Ludwigslust Railway acquired two locomotives from Borsig for the 26-kilometer route it had built between Parchim and Ludwigslust . The locomotives were named after Friedrich Franz II. (Mecklenburg) and Helmuth Karl Bernhard Graf von Moltke . In addition, there was a Sigl locomotive that was acquired second-hand . The machines handled all traffic on the route. When the Parchim-Ludwigsluster Railway was nationalized in 1894, the two Borsig locomotives became part of the Friedrich-Franz Railway. The machines were given the track numbers 508 and 509. The locomotive with the number 508 was retired in 1916 and the other in 1919.
Constructive features
The locomotives had an internal frame with an integrated water tank. The long boiler was made from two shots. The large steam dome sat on the front part of the boiler. The safety valve was located in front of the driver's cab on the standing boiler.
The horizontally arranged two-cylinder wet steam engine worked on the second coupled axle. The valve boxes lay over the cylinders. The external Allan control had crossed eccentric bars.
The suspension of the coupled wheel sets was carried out with leaf spring packages above the axles. The handbrake worked from behind on both sets of wheels. An existing lever brake was removed later.
The sandpit sat on the rear boiler section and sanded the rearmost wheel set from the front. The coal was placed in bins in front of the driver's cab.
