Nathalie Azoulai (born September 9, 1966 in Nanterre ) is a French writer.

Life

Nathalie Azoulai is the daughter of a family who emigrated to France from Egypt . She grew up in Nanterre. Azoulai studied literature, worked after her agrégation as a teacher and then as a publishing editor. Her first novel was published in 2002. She works as a writer and screenwriter in Paris.

Azoulai published her first book Mère agitée in 2002 and the autobiographical novel C'est l'histoire d'une femme qui a un frère about the relationship between a little sister and an older brother in 2004 . Until 2006 she lived in Spain and published Les Manifestations . Her book Une ardeur insensée from 2009 is about theater professionals like Louis Jouvet and Patrice Chéreau . In 2010, with Les Filles ont grandi , she tied thematically to her debut novel.

Azoulais 2015 published novel Titus n'aimait pas Bérénice added Jean Racine tragedy Bérénice in the present. The novel was in the final selection of the Prix ​​Goncourt , the Prix Goncourt des lycéens and the Prix ​​Femina and received the Prix ​​Médicis .
