Alberto Adrián Manguel (born March 13, 1948 in Buenos Aires ) is a writer, literary lecturer, translator and editor from Argentina .

Life

Alberto Manguel is the son of Pablo Manguel , the first Argentine ambassador to Israel, and his wife Rosa Finkelstein. He spent the first years of his life there. Manguel is a Canadian citizen and lived for a long time in Mondion (France) with his partner Craig Stephenson, a psychoanalyst . He is the author of non-fiction and novels. Between 1964 and 1968 Manguel was among other things a reader for the blind Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges . Manguel has been director of the Argentine National Library since December 2015 .
