Alain Claude Sulzer (born February 17, 1953 in Riehen ) is a Swiss writer and translator .

Life

Sulzer trained as a librarian and later worked as a journalist . Since the 1980s he has been publishing his own literary texts, mainly prose . He has also translated some works from French . In 1990 he took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt ; from 2008 to 2011 he was a member of the jury there. In 2012, his novel Aus den Fugen was shortlisted for the Swiss Book Prize . Sulzer now lives in Basel, in Vieux-Ferrette in Alsace and in Berlin .
