The University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa (dt University of Mining and Technology.) (Short: UMAT) is a company incorporated on 1 October 2001 University of Tarkwa in Western Region in Ghana . The UMaT was formed from the Faculty of Mining of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). It is the second youngest university in Ghana after the Ghana Telecom University College .

The UMaT is a unique training facility in West Africa in its training direction, which has important prerequisites due to its location near a high-yield gold deposit. The faculties that were still part of the KNUST at that time and now form the UMaT have been since 1982. opened as teaching centers.

Faculties

The UMaT is divided into two faculties. The Faculty of Engineering is divided into the Department of Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The dean of the faculty is Elias Kwasi Asiam .

The Faculty of Mineral Resources is divided into the departments of Geology, Mining, Mineralogy and Geomatics. The Dean of the Faculty is Newton Amegbey .
