A look into Moretto's studio

Paolo Moretto (* 1959 in Verona ) is an Italian sculptor and painter . His works and sculptures incorporate various techniques.

Life

Paolo Moretto comes from Verona and lives and works in Hamburg . In his opinion, the water connects the two cities, more precisely they are shaped by a river with a port and the corresponding industry and infrastructure. It separates the attitude towards life of the spirited, often spontaneous and sensual reacting, Catholic Italians and the honest, sometimes distant, cool Hanseatic people with their eye for business. Moretto has benefited from the tension in between as well as from the cities as their own spaces - many of his works focus on water and balanced tensions between the supposedly incompatible give them a lightness that is sometimes ironic and sometimes melancholy reminiscent of naivety without being reduced to it. From the beginning to the middle of the 90s, Paolo Moretto lived in Oldenburg and was a member of the now historical producer gallery and studio group KARG. Together with the artist Peter Kastner (Hamburg) and other European artists, he has formed the TRANSINDUSTRIAL movement since 1999, which is committed to the goal of offering the concept of collective, cross-disciplinary art an international platform. He also founded the Ko * op project with Peter Kastner.
