Paperball is a German news search engine . Based on Friedrich Förster's thesis, it was developed by the Communication and Information Technology (KIT) project group at the TU Berlin as part of a cooperation with the Gruner + Jahr subsidiary Electronic Media Service GmbH, through which the German-language Internet search service Fireball was developed . The first version of Paperball searched around 40 German daily newspapers and was the most widely used news search engine in Germany until the start of Google News Search.
