The Papiertechnische Stiftung (PTS) is a non-profit foundation for research, advice, measurement technology and advanced training in paper production, paper processing and their supply industries based in Heidenau (Saxony) .

history

The association was founded in 1951 by the Verband Deutscher Papierfabriken eV (VDP) and the Hauptverband Papier- und Kunststoffverarbeitung eV (HPV) in Munich. In 1996 the association “Forschungsvereinigung Papiertechnik e. V. (FPT) ”the rights and obligations of a third founder .

In 2018, PTS gave up its Munich location.

activities

The activities are to carry out research, further training and information systems, testing, development and project planning orders as well as expert opinions and advice for the paper industry.

The association conducts both publicly funded research and contract research to meet industry and customer needs. In 1954, PTS became a founding member of the Working Group on Industrial Research Associations (AiF). The PTS is a member of the Paper Research Cluster (CPF), the Zuse Association and the Saxon Industry Research Association (SIG). At the European level, PTS is a partner in the Forest-based Sector Technology Platform (FTP), a network for research and innovation in forestry, the wood industry, and the pulp and paper industry.

The advice includes the development and optimization of new products as well as increasing process efficiency. Findings from our own research are incorporated here. In addition, there is the preparation of expert reports and support in complaint management.

In its laboratories, the association carries out material tests and analyzes for the paper industry. According to Section 29 of the Notaries' Service Regulations (DONot), the PTS is also responsible for the creation of test certificates for the suitability of copiers , laser and inkjet printers for the production of documents for documents . The PTS is an external supervisor recognized by the Federal Institute for Materials Testing for bags made of paper, plastic and textile fabric, boxes made of solid and corrugated cardboard and flexible bulk packaging made of plastic fabrics and plastic films.

The main focuses of the advanced training at PTS include stock preparation, deinking , paper production, chemical management, energy and water management, surface technology, coating technology, paper processing as well as measurement and sensor technology. The event types are divided into introductory courses, specialist seminars, workshops, symposia and in-house training.
