Papilloderma altonagai is a species of nudibranch from the suborder of land snails (Stylommatophora). It is the only species in the genus Papilloderma , which in turn is the only genus in the family Papillodermatidae (and the superfamily Papillodermatoidea).
features
The animals are stretched to max. about 3 cm long and relatively slender; the shape can also be described as worm-shaped. The coat shield is very small and sits roughly in the middle of the animal's back. The case is very rudimentary and consists only of a flattened, but spirally rolled up plate in the jacket. It is almost completely covered by the coat, only a small part is still visible through a small recess in the coat. The breathing hole (pneumostome) is located directly next to the housing part. The top of the body is covered with regular rows of conical protuberances (papillae), which run obliquely downwards in front, almost straight down in the middle and downwards obliquely in the back. A light keel is formed on the back. The sole of the foot is narrow and undivided. The body is cream-colored, with the back being a little darker in color, as are the papillae. There is no jaw. The radula (rasping tongue) has 12 to 14 teeth per transverse row, there are about 23 transverse rows. There is no central tooth within a transverse row, the lateral and marginal teeth only show a point (unicuspid).

Way of life, occurrence and distribution
Little is known about the way of life of Papilloderma altonagai . Because of the radula, it is believed to be predatory. So far, the species has only been detected in northern Spain (Asturias and Cantabria) at about 700 m above sea level. It lives there in the damp meadows, very hidden under stones or in crevices. It is therefore difficult to find; so far only very few specimens have ever been found. Meaningful information on frequency and distribution have therefore not yet been provided.
