Paprika Korps are a Polish reggae band. They describe their style as "Heavy Reggae Rockers". The music is based on reggae rhythms with dub elements and has strong rock influences.

history

Founded in April 1996 as a school band in Opole, Silesia , they released their first album Kolejny Krok three years later and received recognition in the Polish music press.

In contrast to most of the Polish reggae groups, which at the time were clearly based on the roots reggae of the Jamaican and British models, influences from rock and punk flowed into Paprika Korps from the beginning , which particularly shaped their style. It was not without reason that Kolejny Krok was recorded in the studio of the punk band Pidżama Porno , which is popular in Poland . Since 2000 Paprika Korps has been the most touring reggae band in Poland.

Supported by the success of the second album Przede wszystkim muzyki , which followed in 2001 , which was recorded in the Czad studio near Poznan and also contains four remixes by the most famous Polish dub producers, it also reached audiences in Moscow , Finland , Ireland and Croatia , Norway and other countries. The song Facts of life became the most played song of the only alternative Polish radio station RADIOSTACJA in 2001 .

In 2002 and 2003 Paprika Korps toured a total of three times through various European countries and then recorded their third album telewizor in December 2003 . The brass section of the Dresden ska band Yellow Umbrella can also be heard on this album .

In 2004 and 2005 Paprika Korps played at the Ostróda Reggae Festiwal . In 2006 her album telewizor was released in a German special edition on the Berlin label Moanin 'Musikproduktionen . In March 2007 the fifth studio album magnetofon was released in Poland and Germany. On March 18, 2010, "Metalchem" was released in Poland. In Germany , Switzerland , Austria and Benelux the album was released again on July 25th 2010 by moanin ' .
