Parömiakos
The Parömiakos ( Greek παροιμιακός “proverbial”, Latin paroemiacus ) is a catalectic anapaestic tetrapody in the ancient Greek verse, i.e. as a sequence of four anapastes, the last foot of the verse being incomplete. The scheme is in metric notation :
- ◡◡ —ˌ ◡◡ —ˌ ◡◡ —ˌ ◠
It is named after its frequent use in proverbs (gr. Paroimia ) and appears as the final link or inserted in longer anapaestic systems.
