The parade armor , also called splendid armor , is protective clothing that is not necessarily suitable for combat or practical, but with the focus on the visual appearance.

Parade armor is intended to symbolize the status and function of the wearer, and is largely used for self-expression . Parade armor is based on the current fashion , is richly decorated and partly consists of precious materials. Nevertheless, parade armor is still armor that is only supposed to show the warlike impression of the wearer in a glamorous, pompous aura. Historically, this armor was made in almost every country in the world. They were mostly made on behalf of the bearer, but in some cases also by the respective rulers. In many cases, battle armor was redesigned or the armor was made splendid but still fit for battle.
