The Parador de Baiona is a Spanish hotel of the state-owned Parador chain in Baiona , a city in the province of Pontevedra in the autonomous region of Galicia . The Parador is located on a peninsula where the Castillo de Monte Real was originally located.

The complex with a large park, surrounded by the sea, can only be reached via a yard that blocks access to the headland. The peninsula, surrounded by steep slopes, is protected by a crenellated wall.

history

The Parador was built on the ruins of a castle . On the large site there was a Franciscan monastery , of which the dome of the chapel has been preserved, which is located above the entrance hall and the main staircase of the current hotel. Three towers and the enclosure are still preserved from the fortress.
