Parafango

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Muds , word abbreviation in paraffin , and mud (Italian fango = mud , mud healing). Healing earth mud are also called peloids (Greek: pelos = mud). Hence peloid therapy , the healing effect of which is primarily attributed to local warming and thus increased blood circulation. Parafangotherapy is an alternative method of heat therapy to traditional fango therapy of Italian, historically even Roman, origin.

Differences from fango

A pack of mineral mud ( fango ) of volcanic origin is applied directly to the skin only once and then rinsed off and disposed of. In parafango, the ingredients and mineral mixtures are mixed with paraffin in approximately equal parts . A cm-thick, flexible, plastically deformable plate is produced, which is placed on the corresponding part of the body at a temperature of approx. 50 ° C and possibly pressed on.

Advantages disadvantages

After use, the parafango packs can be melted down at 130 ° C and thus sterilized . After that, it can be used again 20–30 times. The healing heat effect is hardly affected , apart from possible contact deficits, which can reduce the heat transfer .

A major advantage is the cost factor because of the lower material consumption. In addition, there is no need to shower after the treatment with fango mud, an advantage especially for spa and wellness establishments .

The disadvantage is the lower modeling ability, especially when applied in the neck and neck area. With proper reprocessing there is no risk of "leaching" after multiple uses.
