Hermann Schrobsdorff (born April 3, 1839 - † May 5, 1892 ) was a German landowner.

Act

Hermann Schrobsdorff was a Thuringian patrician . From 1884 until his death he was head of the district IV in the Niederbarnim district (today Berlin-Biesdorf ).

Schrobsdorff managed the former manor in Mahlsdorf for the Jewish merchant Hermann Lachmann . In 1880, Schrobsdorff bought the property for 133,000 thalers with financial support from Sigismund von Treskow . First he rebuilt the manor house on it, built a pigeon house and a distillery for the existing vineyard . Later, Schrobsdorff had the approximately 17,000 m² garden area of the property greatly reduced and completely redesigned into a representative park with a system of paths until his death. After his death, his wife Renate, née Rückert (1844–1908), niece of the poet Friedrich Rückert , and their two daughters inherited the property. The couple's grave is in the cemetery at the old parish church in Mahlsdorf .

aftermath

In 1972 the manor was placed under monument protection. The path system formed the basis for the restoration of the former park, which was carried out from 1993 to 1995 in accordance with the listed buildings.

Schrobsdorffstraße is named after the company

In 1904 Berlin's Schrobsdorffstrasse was named. For a long time it was not clear whether this was named after Hermann or Renate Schrobsdorff, who was still alive in 1904. Ultimately, the Berlin historian Harald Kintscher came across a document by Paul Großmann from 1929, which Renate Schrobsdorff clearly named as the name of the street. Thereupon the responsible district assembly agreed on Renate Schrobsdorff as the namesake and had a corresponding additional sign attached.
