Paraskewi Church (Almaty)

The Paraskevi Church ( Russian Параскевинский храм ) is a Russian Orthodox church in the city of Almaty in Kazakhstan . It is located in the north of the city and was inaugurated in 1998 by the Archbishop of Astana and Almaty. The church is named after the martyr Paraskewi of Iconium .

history

Construction of the Paraskewi Church began in 1995. The church building was inaugurated in 1998 by the Archbishop of Astana and Almaty. At the same time, the construction of the small bell tower began.

A Sunday school was established in the church in 1997 to teach the basics of drawing, music, and modeling. In the same year, a non-profit kitchen for the poor was also opened.

In 2004 the renovation of the icon of Our Lady of Kazan began.
