The Paraty-Mirim area is a natural park that was established by the state of Rio de Janeiro and is located near the historic town of Paraty . The park extends in the east to the coast of the Atlantic . Within the park there are several farms (fazendas) and an extensive Indian reservation, which extends to the borders of the state of São Paulo .

The Paraty-Mirim Nature Park is part of the Mata Atlântica tropical forest , which in turn is part of the Brazilian Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO . The park is part of the much larger Serra da Bocaina National Park .
