The Parc du Mont Ntringui is a nature park of international importance on the island of Anjouan in the island state of the Comoros . The park covers around 3,000 hectares and is one of only three significant protected areas in the Union of Comoros . It extends over the area of Mont Ntringui , and one of the last natural forests on the island, as well as the area around Lake Dzialandzé, a wetland that is an important refuge, especially for birds. In 2006 the park was designated as a Ramsar area .
Flora and fauna
The park is a habitat for numerous animal species, including the endangered Comorian bat (Pteropus livingstonii), Seychelles fruit bat ( Pteropus seychellensis var. Comorensis), the Founingo ( Comoros fruit pigeon - Pigeon bleu, Alectroenas sganzini) and various species of fish and reptiles. Particularly notable bird species Anjouan scops owl (Petit-duc d'Anjouan, Otus capnodes) and Little Grebe (grebes castagneux, Tachybaptus ruficollis).
