Raphael Reinhard

Raphael Carl Reinhard , also Reinhardt (* 1820 in Veilsdorf Monastery , Duchy of Saxony-Hildburghausen ; † 1903 in Bernburg , Anhalt ), was a German porcelain , portrait painter and landscape painter , court painter to Prince Alexander Carl von Anhalt-Bernburg in Ballenstedt and drawing teacher in Bernburg.

Life

Reinhard, son of the landscape painter August Reinhard, attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1844 to 1846 . He was still based there in 1848. He initially earned his living as a porcelain and portrait painter. Study trips took him to the Alps and northern Italy , where he found motifs for his landscape painting. He stayed in Düsseldorf for a long time . In 1852 Carl Alexander von Anhalt-Bernburg appointed him his court painter. From 1874 he gave drawing lessons at the "Ducal Higher Citizens School in Bernburg" .

The Museum Schloss Bernburg acquired an extensive estate from the artist in 2013.
