Gerhardt Petersen

Gerhardt Amos Kristian Petersen (born April 13, 1955 - March 30, 2020 in Qaqortoq ) was a Greenlandic politician ( Atassut ) and entrepreneur .

Life

Gerhardt Petersen began a commercial apprenticeship at KGH in Narsaq in 1971 , where he grew up. He then attended the business school in Ikast , took his trade exam in 1976 and became a trade assistant in Narsaq that same year. Later he worked for KGH and its successor group KNI in Nuuk , Aasiaat , Sisimiut and Qasigiannguit . In 1988 he became head of trade in Qasigiannguit and in 1992 director at KNI Service. In 2005 he was appointed CEO of KNI. Just one year later, in December 2006, he was fired because of poor economic results.

He ran for Atassut in the 2009 general election . He received 167 votes and thus missed by two votes the entry into Inatsisartut . After the previous party chairman, Finn Karlsen, resigned due to the poor election result , Gerhardt Petersen applied as his successor and was elected. In the 2013 election he was able to achieve 216 votes and thus landed again in the first place of his party. Because the Atassut came to Naalakkersuisut , Gerhardt Petersen moved up to the Inatsisartut for Minister Steen Lynge . In the local elections in the same year he also ran, but only received 34 votes in the municipality of Kujalleq . In 2014 he was voted out of office as party leader and replaced by Knud Kristiansen . Shortly afterwards there were new elections for the Inatsisartut and Gerhardt Petersen only received 45 votes. With only the tenth most votes from his party colleagues, he clearly failed at a parliamentary seat. In the 2017 local elections, he failed again with 55 votes. He did not run for the Inatsisartut election in 2018 .

On April 8, 2000 he received the Nersornaat in silver.

After him in 2018 cancer was diagnosed, he succumbed to the effects of the disease end in March 2020 two weeks before his 65th year.
