Knud Kristiansen (born February 2, 1971 in Upernavik ) is a Greenlandic politician and police officer .

Life

Knud Kristiansen is the son of a father of the same name and his wife Louise Geisler. He has three children with his wife Justine Svendsen Kristiansen. Knud Kristiansen worked as a police officer from 1997 to 2008. He then went into business for himself.

Knud Kristiansen's political activity began in 2001 when he was elected to the council of Upernavik municipality for the Atassut . From 2005 to 2007 he was Second Vice Chairman of KANUKOKA . During the administrative reform in 2009, the municipality of Upernavik was incorporated into the new Qaasuitsup Kommunia . Knud Kristiansen sat on the transitional committee of the municipality in 2008 and then also sat on the municipal council. From 2004 he was also a member of the Inatsisartut as a successor . After the Inatsisartut election in 2009 , he was given a permanent seat in parliament for the first time. He took part in the 2011 Folketing election, but clearly missed one of the two seats with 253 votes. In the Inatsisartut election in 2013 , he reached the second place of the Atassut. On September 27, 2014 he was elected chairman of the Atassut. In the 2014 Inatsisartut election , Knud Kristiansen was directly re-elected to Inatsisartut with 311 votes - most of the Atassut candidates. He was then appointed to the Kielsen I cabinet and appointed Minister for Housing, Construction and Infrastructure. In the course of this, he took a leave of absence from the local council of Qaasuitsup Kommunia and handed over his company to his wife. When the government was dissolved, he took his seat in parliament. In January 2017 he gave up the chairmanship of the Atassut and left the party at the same time. The following month he became a member of the Siumut . He did not run in the 2017 local elections. In the Inatsisartut election in 2018 , he received only 34 votes for the Siumut and thus clearly missed a seat in parliament.
