No parking zone
A no parking zone in Germany is an area that is marked by the traffic sign 290.1 (square sign with a symbol for restricted stopping prohibition , under which the word zone is written). In contrast to the restricted stopping ban (formerly: no parking ), this sign applies there up to the corresponding exit sign and not up to the next junction or intersection. The road sign 290.1, which was introduced in Germany at the beginning of the 1990s, is often provided with the additional sign "Free parking on marked areas".
