Parliamentary group

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

At the beginning of an electoral period of the German Bundestag , bilateral and multilateral parliamentary groups are formed on the basis of a resolution by the Council of Elders . Groups of parliamentarians aim to promote the international relations of the Bundestag at parliamentary level through conferences, information trips, specialist events and personal contacts with parliamentarians from other countries .

The term parliamentary group is not clearly defined in German parliamentary law. A parliamentary group is in common parlance an association of parliamentarians. The Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag are therefore also strictly parliamentary groups and could lead this designation. In order to avoid confusion with the bilateral and multilateral parliamentary groups, for example, the parliamentary group inland navigation and the parliamentary group free flowing rivers have dispensed with the designation parliamentary group . In older protocols of the German Bundestag, the term is, for example, occasionally Parliamentarians inland waterways instead Parliamentary Group Inland Navigation .
