General election in Colombia 2018
The 2018 parliamentary election in Colombia took place on March 11, 2018.
In the parliamentary elections on March 11, 2018 in Colombia, the parties of the center-right spectrum gained control of nearly 43 percent of Congress. Centro Democrático (CD) emerged as the party with the most votes, while Cambio Radical (CR) doubled its seats in both the Senate and the Chamber of Representatives . Even if the turnout was slightly higher than in 2014, 53 percent of voters did not go to the polls.

102 senators for the Senate and 166 representatives for the House of Representatives were elected. The parliamentarians are elected according to the votes cast in the proportional representation . The new party of the former guerrilla Fuerza Alternativa Revolucionaria del Común has since withdrawn from the election campaign due to a lack of security. The candidates traveled with bodyguards and police protection, their own expectations were reflected in rather small events. The rebel organization National Liberation Army (ELN) had announced a nationwide unilateral ceasefire for the election weekend.
Results
- In the outcome of the election, the ex-guerrilla party Fuerza Alternativa Revolucionaria del Común experienced an election debacle with half a percent of the vote. According to the peace treaty, the party is still allowed to occupy five seats in the Senate and five in the House of Representatives for this legislature .
- The Centro Democrático achieved 19 senatorial seats in the Senate of Colombia and 32 seats in the House of Representatives.
- The Cambio Radical won 19 senatorial seats in the Senate of Colombia and 30 seats in the House of Representatives.
- The Partido Conservador Colombiano achieved 15 senatorial seats in the Senate of Colombia and 21 seats in the House of Representatives.
- The Partido Liberal Colombiano achieved 14 senatorial seats in the Senate of Colombia and 35 seats in the House of Representatives.
- The Partido Social de Unidad Nacional achieved 14 senatorial seats in the Senate of Colombia and 25 seats in the House of Representatives.
- The Alianza Verde reached ten Senator seats in the Senate of Colombia and nine seats in the House of Representatives.
- The Polo Democrático Alternativo won five senatorial seats in the Senate of Colombia and two seats in the House of Representatives.
